Popular musician Oladapo Daniel Oyebanjo (D’banj), has sued Seyitan Babatayo, the lady who accused him of rape for N1.5 billion Naira.
At first, D’banj demanded a N100 million naira for “defamation” of his character and person from Seyitan Babatayo and an apology from her lawyers after she threw the rape accusation at him on Social media.
However, the story now is changed as D’banj has through his lawyer, Mike Ozekhome Chambers, demanded for N1.5 Billion naira from Seyitan.
According to the suit, N1 billion was demanded in damages “over the untold embarrassment, derision, public ridicule, odium, obloguy, marital disharmony, mental agony and psychological trauma which the defendants’ tweets and publication have caused the claimant.”
While N500 million was demanded as “aggravated, puniitive, and exemplary damages.”
It also demanded that Seyitan writes D’banj “a letter of unreserved apology for the offensive tweets and posts”.
The court has also been prayed upon to grant “an order of perpetual injunction restraining the defendant from further publishing, tweeting or posting offesnive libelous statements.”
It is to be recalled that a week ago, Seyitan released a statement with details of her entire ordeal with D’banj. Initially, she had tweeted denying that she was arrested on D’banj’s orders and spoke of her decision to put everything behind her.
This however, did not correspond with the statement she released afterwards that claimed she was arrested and held for 24 hours, later released to D’banj’s team who took her to an undisclosed location, denied her access to her family and lawyers, threatened her, took over control of her social media account, and coerced her to retract her statement.
Also, activist Segun Awosanya “Segalink” shared a thread on Twitter on Thursday where he said Seyitan was not detained by D’banj’s team as she claimed earlier.
