Gov Akeredolu commends UNICEF, Says it is a worthy partner in public health

Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, has noted with satisfaction invaluable contributions of UNICEF in mainstreaming Public Health issues across the nooks and crannies of the state.

Governor Akeredolu who spoke while playing host to the outgoing UNICEF Representative in charge of Akure Field Office, Dr Tushar Rane said the global body has been a worthy partner in the bold efforts of his administration at making health care delivery accessible and affordable to residents of Ondo State.

“UNICEF has always been with us and we have always enjoy tremendous support when it comes to health, what ever we have achieved wouldn’t have been done without you because UNICEF is largely about Public Health”, he said.

Arakunrin Akeredolu who assured that Healthcare Delivery is pivotal to the REDEEMED Development Agenda of his administration stated that more more remarkable performances should be expected in the health sector in his second term in office.

The governor urged the people of the state to embrace the Contributory Health Insurance Scheme initiated by his administration in view of the inherent values of the policy that will ultimately impact the health status of all residents irrespective of socioeconomic status.

“If you are taking advantage of health insurance you don’t have to beg anybody for assistance, all you have to do is to register, get your card and be treated for free” the governor stated.

Earlier, the outgoing UNICEF Chief of Akure Field Office Dr. Tushar Rane commended the governor for the tremendous strides his administration has taken in the health sector

He was particularly happy at the response of COVID-19 in Ondo State which according to him has greatly stermed the spread of the pandemic in the state coupled with the public awareness of the State Government during thev COVID-19 vaccination.

Dr Tushar Rane was equally happy at the launch of the State Long Term Development Plan which he said would help make all the laudable policies and programmes of the state sustainable and attainable.
