Written by Chukwuma Obiasia

Ahead of Ramon Abbas a.k.a Hushpuppi’s trial on October 13th, 2020, new evidence has been submitted against the popular Nigerian alleged internet fraudster.

The new evidence shows how he used his personal email to register on a website “whizzlog” which is a market place for buying US bank logs and money laundering.

A statement released by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) partly reads:

“In reviewing data from ABASS email address (rayhuspuppi@gmail.com), we found out that ABBAS registered on a website, whizzlog.com which is a market place for buying US Banklogs and money laundering.

“Based on my training and experiences, Cyber criminals refer to bank account login details as bank logs or logs. These details can be purchased on the dark web or some secret websites only known in cyber criminal circles. The website ABBAS registered with and used is called Whizzlog.com.

“Sophisticated cyber criminal do not use their personal email addresses in registering on such websites. ABBAS used his personal email to register on the site just like he used his personal email address for other criminal activities and schemes.

“ABBAS’ email address contained registration confirmation from Whizzlog. It also contained numerous confirmation and receipts of bank logs he purchased.

“One of such messages read, ‘Your order was successful. You have purchased (the Financial institution) banklog with a balance of $9,839,44. Purchase Price: $955, login to your whizzlog account to view’.

“From the example above, I observed ABBAS buys a log with balance of over $9,000 for as low as $900″.

The Instagram celebrity accused of being the leader of a group that facilitates computer intrusion, business email compromise (BEC) fraud and money laundering, pleaded not guilty to the four-count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud, money laundering conspiracies, international money laundering and engaging in monetary transactions in property derived from specified unlawful activity.

Premium Times reported that the prosecutors kickstarted the process of arraignment by filling necessary documents and forms after his first appearance on August 17th.

Hushpuppi reportedly entered a plea, insisting that he is not guilty of the charges. The Instagram celebrity will be represented in court by Vicki Podberesky, a top-rated lawyer in California and Gal Pissetzky, a Chicago-based lawyer appearing pro hac vice because he is not licensed to practise outside Chicago.

Gal Pissetzky who is only licensed to practice in Chicago will now be supported by Vicki Podberesky of Andrues/Podberesky law firm based in Los Angeles.

The law firm specialises in representing individuals in both state and federal criminal matters, as well as companies and individuals in administrative and in-house investigations.

Pissetzky had applied to appear Pro hac vice on behalf of Hushpuppi in California, with an attestation letter from the Attorney Registration and the Disciplinary Commission of the Supreme Court in Illinois.
