Barrister Olumide Akpata, a former Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association Section on Business Law (NBA-SBL), has emerged as winner of the Nigerian Bar Association’s (NBA) presidential election.
He defeated two Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SANs), to become the first non-SAN president in years.
Akpata won the keenly contested election with a total of 9,891 votes out of the total 18,256 ballots cast.
Babatunde Ajibade (SAN) got 4,328 votes, while Dele Adesina (SAN) had 3,982 votes.
The NBA’s national election ended at 11pm on Thursday.
